Aside from how old he is, Edge just isn’t booked properly. What made him big in WWE was being this edgy heel that would always go up against the big babyfaces and cheat his way through victories. Think of his iconic Elimination Chamber match. In AEW he’s booked as this boring tweener who tries too hard to be cool whereas back in WWE it just came to him naturally. He needs to be a heel through and through, but then that puts AEW in the spot because Edge is like the only face of the company left after Punk returned to WWE. So Tony has no choice but to keep booking him as a babyface or else risk burying him entirely by making him go full heel, and even then he’d have to go full 2000’s era WWE heel, none of this tame shit heels do nowadays like those boring spots where heels attack Tony. And speaking of Punk, that’s a booking done right. Punk was never a good wrestler, he excels in promos and in character, and is booked solely for his promos and his character. WWE knows how to book them, AEW does not.
In short, Edge was only ever good as a heel to the main guy, not as a main guy himself, especially not a babyface main guy.
