>>14599591owen had the kind of talent that promoters today would drool over, he’d of had a much easier time translating his personality into today’s product. in the 90’s? hell no. his best shot was working with bret in 94 and i just don’t think he had the passion for the business to get over in that climate. he wasn’t going to be hogan or savage and he was way too genuine of a good guy in real life to be comfortable in the role 90s guys had to be in to stand out. he had really good matches for his time and he did a fine job with his character but he never got past being bret’s heel baby brother. bret at least found a groove with his gimmick, he was a lot more suave than owen and he at least made that his own, plus the canadian hero gimmick was a great heel character. owen never got there the way bret did. finally, i watched in 97 and there was no way i’d cheer him to beat shawn more than austin. it was always going to be steve with the belt at wrestlemania, the screwjob was ultimately just a diva battle over who’d drop it to him. Owen should’ve left with bret, maybe at least then he’d still be alive.
