Charisma and promos are just as important, and arguably more so, than workrate. Look, gimmick, believability, all of it matters. Fans paying to see you = you're POPULAR. Take a step back and try to figure out why that is, instead of dismissing it because you're only focusing on one aspect of pro wrestling.
Hogan was a good worker too, just not at the same level as Funk (few are btw). But Funk couldn't match Hogan when it came to charisma, size, physique, promos, or believability as heavyweight champ.
