Consider: Will Ospreay has wrestled 5 matches on Dynamite, and now the last 2 on Collision. Imagine being 3 weeks out from AEW Dynamite, it's time to decide TODAY if you're going to put in for a vacation day. You do it, because you want to see Ospreay wrestle in person for the first time in your life.....but he's on Collision this week, in city a 4-6 hour drive away.
When WWE announces random matches a few days before the show, or makes impromptu matches during the show, you have a good idea of who the matches will involve due to the brand split. So whether Sami Zayn has a singles match or a 6 man tag, you'll probably see him. Whether Jay Uso is in a Battle Royal or a gauntlet match, you'll probably see him.
"Where's the story" is just one component of wondering WHY Tony Khan structures the shows the way he does. Why are talents bouncing around from show to show? If I buy a ticket for 3 weeks from now, will XYZ storyline still be going on? Will there be a match on Dynamite to further XYZ or just a few backstage videos? Will I get to see my favorite wrestler IN THE RING, to be able to take a photograph, chant their name, hold up my sign I made, and so on?
