That's what it was at the beginning, and it was awesome. Then Tony did everything to turn it into WWE, into what the fans did not want, and this is exactly what went wrong.

Imagine if Vader power bombed Misawa then gave him a lariat and Misawa immediately no sold it into a gymnastics routine . There was no selling in All Japan but this is insane .

I mean, there's always been an ecosystem out there. WWE would take workers here and there, but it mostly just let the companies in that ecosystem do its thing.

And before someone chimes in to blame WWE for killing the UK wrestling scene, it was actually the #MeToo fallout coupled with the Covid restrictions that dealt the killing blow there. Turns out when the top guys in a particular region are all sex pests, no one wants to watch them anymore -- particularly when it's tough to go see shows in the first place.

Which is what the Elite did at the start. Then, by slow degrees, the trickle of WWEjects came in. Then Phil arrived, and with him came a flood of NXTjects who were then booked over the OG talent who had beaten them in the Wednesday Night Wars. And at this time, you kept treating your OG talent like shit - Darby, Shida, Best Friends, Hayter, Private Party, Jack Perry, MJF, The Lucha Bros, Wardlow, even the Golden Girl Baker wasn't safe, nor was Adam Page. As much as I enjoy Blackpool Combat Club, it was just a bunch of EX-WWE guys styling everyone. And the list goes on and on, but the message is unambiguous. Unless you're a former WWE talent, you don't fucking matter.
