- Signing a bunch of people's friends and relatives. Everyone who isn't someone's friend or family gets left behind and tons of people got signed or got chances they didn't deserve. It lead to at least 20 additional people getting signed.
- Listening to Dave Meltzer and the IWC. I get the logic behind it, "Wow, these matches are great. If everyone saw them, they'd think they are great too and we'd do great business". The problem is that the average person doesn't know what a great match is nor care and it's obvious to anyone who looks into it that there's no connection between great matches and great business.
- Not putting a leash on his fanbase and telling them to stop harassing people who had issues with AEW. I can't tell you how many times I've seen AEW fans tell people not to watch or try to shut down people with complaints. It made people hate AEW more and now they need all the people they ran off.
- He signed too many ex-WWE and ex-NJPW guys. Don't get me wrong, it lead to major improvements in the ring but it became a different promotion and lost a lot of its original identity due to the roster overhaul. I often cite the period where they signed Cole, Danielson and Punk as the beginning of AEW 2.0.
- Booking himself as the top star. Tony Khan is AEW's top star. He does all the interviews. He's always the focus of everything. He's an on screen character and even in the main angle right now.
