Idol fanbases have a parasocial relationship with their object of admiration, but the dynamics of a relationship are still there. It's no different from a teenage girl bringing home a guy to impress her parents, siblings or friends and then when he's not welcome act defensively that they don't like him and just ruin the relationship they had with their parents or whatever. Sure, the culture is super weird but it still follows the fundamentals of family dynamics.
