Dynamite was initially doing great ratings, and while the ratings are still good (and they are), the pattern of steadily lowering figures is probably turning heads among executives. It raises the obvious question of "How low can this thing fall?" And the resulting low ball offer is a sign of them acknowledging that this thing is now riskier than it was before. It's not a guaranteed ratings killer. So naturally they don't want to thei a shit load of money at this thing for a five year deal or whatever, and then have the actual product fall through a ratings blackhole.
