Pretty much. Seeing him go through with the match in that state basically made him a superhero. His return at the Rumble was so good.

Definitely. He signed any contract they wanted to absolve them of any possible guilt and went out there and put on a great match. It was also a defining moment for him with the fans and is the reason he is so over. It all goes back to this match.

the only thing I hate about this is that cody lost his look after that, he looked great in his first match with seth but after the injury he lost a lot of muscle and then decided to just get leaner instead, he also got tanned which I hated because he looked way better with pale skin

Probably not as good, at least for him. Rumors at the time were saying they wanted to do Cody & Brandi vs Seth & Becky at some point. He would have had a Bray feud too. That injury was perfect because he got out before WWE just gives up for the fall and came back in time for Mania season. The injury at the least made pushing him against Roman for WM39 a no brainer, which only elevated his stock more.

Not enough. He'll get stale if he just cruises from one random opponent to the next even if the matches are good. The reason Roman got so over was that they booked a somewhat coherent overarking storyline spanning three years or about ten if you count the shield stuff. People got invested into the characters over time and they were rewarded for following along with a satisfactory conclusion. Finishing the story was Cody's big thing and one of the main reason everyone got behind him. Now that's done and he's got nothing major to strive for. If they can't figure out some big plot for him to follow the only other thing I can think of that would keep him entertaining is giving him the biggest and most outlandish spots so you know there's always something to look forward to in his matches.

Not nearly as good. The injury was perfect because it let him fuck off until the Rumble and the Mania build. Him feuding with some midcarder for months in the meantime would have hurt his heat immensely.
We're seeing now the massive hangover people have for Cody after an all-time build.
