It's not a bad concept and it obviously exists in professional sports but I think AEW is overusing the eliminator match thing.
In my opinion, the top champion wrestling in a singles match at all should be a big deal. That's part of the draw, it's in the rarity of the thing (and I'm not necessarily talking going as infrequently as Brock or Roman either, don't get me wrong here). An Eliminator here or there is great as an exhibition but using them too frequently reduces the rarity of seeing the top champ in singles action, which leads to very real diminishing returns on their drawing power.
This is one of the things I feel New Japan does a lot better than AEW -- champions are put in tag and multi-man matches where they will certainly see some action against the person they're feuding with but neither will eat the pin.
