It seems like a lot just find their way in after failed idol careers. And, while I understand Japan is tolerant towards homosexuality, I can't image it's particularly open about it. Given that women in Japanese society try to marry by 30 but many of these women stay single into their 30s and beyond, it doesn't seem like such a stretch that maybe that's not such a bad thing in their books.
I don't know, I could be totally off base and I'm admittedly just thinking out loud here. But I can see it.
