Nope. It was Haitch's vanity project—his attempt to have a truly epic feud. Ironically, as is often the case with Haitch, he wasn't even in the top three of Michael's feuds.

From Summerslam 2002 until around Royal Rumble 2004 is was top tier. It did peak at Armageddon 2003 though since the whole "is this the 90s HBK or is he not as good" storyline kind of died when HBK lost. But I still like their last man standing match from RR 2004. Whichever Taboo Tuesday match it was that had Edge fuck over HBK made me seethe so bad I nearly dropped wrestling altogether as a kid

I loved it. Thought Michaels return to wrestling was one of the most exciting things to happen in a while and the build to the SummerSlam match was fantastic as was the match itself. I remember liking things all the way through to Survivor Series as well. I was a poor so I didn't get to see the other PPVs as they happened in real time so I can't give the fairest opinions but I don't ever recall being sick of it or wishing it was done with. If anything I recall thinking Benoit winning the Rumble and getting involved in it at first muddied it up because it felt so shoehorned

Lazy and predictable. Michaels had lost a step by the time he came back and really these are two guys who to a greater or lesser degree, both require a competent opponent to carry - or at very least elevated - them to greatness.

All the matches were great and I liked how they tried to tell a (really) long drawn out 70s/80s style feud story which was a major contrast to the 1-2 month long at most storylines they'd done for years, but this was also the time period where I fully dived into the whole internet community and dirtsheets shit, so I knew Michaels would never win the matches cause he didn't work house shows and that kinda killed a lot of hype
