Everyone talks about the "almost boom" of 2011 with the Summer of Punk but there was another almost boom in 06/07. It was the time of the DX Reunion, Cena starting to get his big push, Rey Mysterio at the top, Jeff Hardy returning, all those were perfect recipes for Little Jimmies to mark out over. Benoit killed that momentum before it could boom. I believe part of the reason they went PG is because they knew they had the kid audience and tried to retain that heavily.
