We know the fight's not final, because we haven't seen the kid yet. Makes everything feel like filler.
With the Cell Saga, they told you Cell's trying to be perfect all the time, but never showed it or explicitly told you exactly how powerful he's gonna be. "Enough to kill Goku". Frieza thought he was that powerful, so it's not really breaking kayfabe.
Also the teasing with SSJ3 to Fat Buu and his Jewish handler ruined the surprise of a sudden new powerful mode Goku can pull out of his hat.
And if they kept it quiet, and let him Hulk up in the match into SSJ3, and then it turns out "OH NO, IT'S NOT ENOUGH", then you maximise the drama.
Instead we see it in action against Super Buu from the underneath tag talent and it kinda sucks.
