WCW didn't just spring out of the ground when Nitro started, anon.

It was an established promotion for years and years. And was a continuation of the NWA, a much older promotion with even deeper roots.
It's incomparable to TNA or AEW which were truly created as challenger brands.

WCW started in 1988 after Ted Turner bought Jim Crockett Promotions. Go watch old WCW Saturday Night episodes from 88 to 94 (when Hogan showed up) and you'll see them struggling to do about half the business AEW does.
