Basically Simon Inoki convinced the owner of AJPW to sign him to a big paycheque and gigapush Nakajima right out of the gate. Unfortunately Nakajima has a lot of heat backstage, not just with Kento Miyahara but with the the guys who book and train for AJPW, Suwama and Hideki Suzuki. Hachiman is kind of a non-issue, but Miyahara is the biggest draw in AJPW right now, and Suwama is the guy who personally scouted and trained all the guys that make up AJPW's new generation of wrestlers and who are responsible for the recent surge in attendance and media coverage AJPW has been having. Suwama threatened to walk out on AJPW and there was a very real chance all his trainees would walk out with him.
The only card Simon Inoki had in his deck was the promise of a working relationship with WWE, but all that turned out to be was Inoki begging William Regal to send his son over to AJPW for a kind middling series of matches with Nakajima. Didn't help that the rest of the Inoki family squashed Nakajima's Inoki cosplay down with a CaD notice. So Fukuda was forced to choose between a talented worker with 20 years under his belt but no loyalty and with uncertain drawing potential or 6 young guys that will make or break his company in the future and who only know AJPW and are loyal as fuck to it right now.
So he chose Suwama and his trainees to invest in AJPWs future over 36 year.
As it stands Nakajima is trapped in an exclusive contract with a company that refuses to use him and no one is really clear on when that contract will end. There is also the shit going on in Nakajima's personal life where his mistress came out on social media by posting while she was at an abortion clinic saying he was forcing her to get a 'bort so no Nakajima's home life is all fucked up as well.
He might show up at the Despe Invitational but no one really knows when his contract will end or when his home life will get sorted out.
