It's just that "white" is a racist generalized term for a bunch of different races including Caucasian, Anglo, Irish, Jewish, Roman, Slavic etc. Each of those is relatively homogeneous too, but when you lump them all together under the umbrella of "white" it makes us seem pretty diverse.
There are people in East Asia with dark brown skin. Pacific Islanders too, Australians, Indians, etc. But nobody lumps them in with black i.e. African people.
