>>14880485It really is interesting because Roman and H are the two extremes. One tries to make it all about himself and it infuriates fans. One makes it about family and it pleases everyone. H was always about himself. Roman was always elevated BECAUSE of his family. H was not wanted, while Roman eventually did become wanted. And even while Roman still stumbles, in terms of appeal, he is vastly superior than H ever was, arguably even at H's peak popularity in DX. But was it because of Roman's history that The Bloodline became popular? Or was it because of The Bloodline that Roman's history became a second thought?
I sincerely think that if they write decent angles with a returning Roman, he could literally become one of the organically biggest stars the company ever saw. People call this the "New" Era, the "Triple H/Paul Levesque" Era, but I think both of those are wrong. Because now fans seem to cheer WILLINGLY, not for the character, but the performers behind people when they arrive, and then they play accordingly. It's genuinely the smartest crowds I've ever seen. So I call it "The Meta Era". Finally, everyone is in on the ruse of wrestling. And that's okay. Because as long as what they see is interesting, people will do their part. People chant for Roman because of his complicated history to now being a beloved heel to hate. He's come so far, and only now does his true beginning arrive.
I just hope the wait is worth it.
