There was some report that he left early during a Dynamite taping but it turns out his segment was pushed back to next week so he went home early, and they wanted him for a Rampage match but he was no longer in the building.

That one's definitely on TK and the creative crew, should've told him to stick around if they needed him for Friday.

All of this is true, except Tony was never going to push this guy to any large extent. He was either going to go the path he did or get jobbed like "The Murder Hawk." Guy straight up doesn't know how to book big guys, which really should be the easiest writing exercise in pro wrestling, guy just refuses to put them over in spite of a nearly universally midge roster.
