Definitely worse. AEW might be a cold product full of questionable decisions but putting the world title on Bubba Ray Dudley is a level of bad no other promotion but TNA even has the means of stooping to.

Ace and Eights was stupid but it was at least a narrative you could follow from show to show. AEW is stupid without any narrative.
