It's crazy that Copeland left WWE because WWE didn't need him to wrestle as often, and he goes to AEW which....also needs him to wrestle much less often. Copeland is one of the best performers of the past 2 decades, he shouldn't be jerking the curtain on Collision in front of 2500 fans in a 16000 capacity arena. The PPVs are monthly now, give him a match every single PPV. That's plenty for him. If you absolutely have to have him more often, have ONE tag team or 6-man tag in the build up, but NO singles Copeland unless you PAY for it.
AEW has some incredible building blocks to work with, but it's the peripherals really dragging them down. The lack of blockbuster entrances (and original entrance themes); too much dogshit/inside joke/overdesigned merchandise; picking the wrong size arenas to maximize crowd excitement and involvement; etc. It's not the names, they have some tremendous names with huge talent. It's all about the production and the presentation, getting people to BUY IN and join the movement.
I'm excited to see what happens with Collision in a <1500 seat environment. Will the crowd be raucus? Will they develop a new Collision set to take on the road once the Summer Residency is over? Can AEW find a way to make Rampage/Collision the smark-tastic shows and transition Dynamite into a more casual fan/lapsed fan-friendly program? That's their only hope of turning things around.
