In a way Ospreay has fallen into and created his own hell. He surrounded himself with sycophants and yes men telling him what he wants to hear and so he no longer wants to improve, simply live in the past. Endlessly flipping and shitting. I genuinely think Ospreay is biggest winner among all the guys who jumped to AEW though. The guy is only 30 so even if he squeezes Tiny out of millions of dollars for the next 3 years, he will still be considered in his prime to jump ship to WWE. Okada is bigger loser here. By the time he is done with AEW, he will have lost all his appeal and he would be hitting 40 years old which would be too old for a main event run in WWE. These guys are just jumping on the opportunity of making the most possible money while AEW still exists. In return they risk tanking their careers but Ospreay has more time on his side than anyone else.

Jay White could be in the same position as Ospreay but it is clear than guys like Kenny, Bucks and Ospreay still see Jay White as the young guy who used to wash their clothes and kiss their ass in the New Japan dojo. Jay White is forever mid-card bound. He ruined any chance of being a top guy when he chose AEW over WWE.

Jay might've been better appreciated in WWE by the guys controlling the business because he works a more old school, Bret Hart style. Punk was big on him and they were clearly going to have a feud for the AEW title with Punk as the champion, so him leaving cost Jay White quite a bit.
But Jay doesn't work a flashy, high spot-y enough style to really pop all of the fans in AEW regularly. He was unironically probably better off in Japan in terms of fan appreciation but he'd probably do okay in WWE with a script. But he'd end up in like a feud with AJ probably, maybe an upper midcard feud with Cody or a babyface champion but I still don't think he'd be driving anybody wild either way.
Jay is just destined to be underappreciated.

Okada losing his allure though? In the states, maybe, but if you think he doesn't come right back in at the top of the card in 5 years, you're crazy. He won't be the unstoppable ace he used to be, but he'll probably be booked like Tanahashi was in 2018-2019, still very much a top guy.

Call me crazy then but I don't think Okada is ever returning to NJPW. I don't see NJPW doing any better in 5 years than they are right now, especially if Kidani keeps sucking up to Tiny and Tiny himself isn't running out of money to throw on Okada 5 years from now either. Even worse, I fear that AEW will have Okada win the IWGP sometime in the near future just like how Mosque Lee is shitting all over New Japan right now. I hope I'm wrong though.

If Jay White decides to go to WWE again at some point, Triple H will take him
Did he lose some of his luster and potential for being a main eventer? Yeah.

One theory is Mox was originally planned for more tours so this AEW angle wouldn't be as prominent but problems at home with AEW including ratings gave them cold feet and had him split time which just exacerbated everything.

Katsuyori Shibata's AEW run in 2024 has been nothing short of remarkable! He has effortlessly balanced being a top-tier wrestler and a master of comedic timing. Watching Shibata steal the show in the ring and then turn around and deliver hilarious moments using Google Translate is an absolute testament to his versatility and charisma.

What makes Shibata's performances even more impressive is how seamlessly he he blends together seriousness and humor. His comedic bits never undermine his tough persona, which is a challenging balance to strike in the wrestling world. For years, we've witnessed numerous wrestlers go from legitimate threats in the ring to then become jokes and afterthoughts. Not Shibata, though...

Overall, I would personally say that Shibata's AEW run in 2024 has been one of the most entertaining acts to follow! What are your thoughts on his ability to effectively blend humor with serious, high-caliber wrestling?

B Block has some fun NEVER type matchups with Jeff Cobb vs HENARE being the major one we don't get to see much (due to faction politics) but all of the matchups of Goto, Tsuji, Cobb and Henare should be good slappa choppa bouts, Yuya ELP might be good value, Takeshita should be good in general and I like the qualifiers for B block most, we've got the following angles

Fair, I was convinced earlier that TJP's whole "heavyweight hunter" gimmick was something they would follow through with by giving him G1, but considering that they seem to be giving every heavyweight around him a title in a way that makes him look conspicuously lacking they might be arresting his momentum in that regard. I do still think that Newman will win block A qualifier (and Ishii will continue to be a very sad man) but B really is a qualifier filled with guys that I feel would be good in G1 for different reasons, and I think that they will give it to Tana just for him to get 2 or 4 points at most.
I'm genuinely confused why they seem to refuse to give Kojima any spotlight anymore, the guy got thrown into the Hontai Dads division with no fanfare a few years ago despite being able to go at a top level any time a promotion gives him the chance.

Imo, the qualifier tourney should have been mostly guest stars instead. Shitters from AEW, CMLL, NOAH, AJPW and Dragon Gate fighting each other to get a spot in our prestigious Shin Nihon Tournament. We are the best and we should act like it.

They have a harder path, yes. But the other option is not getting a chance to compete in the G1 at all, so obviously the qualifier is the better option for them.

From a booking point of view, it lets you have a really good underdog story, or a huge upset where somebody wins the whole G1 from the qualifier someday.
It's a good booking option and a better way to involve more wrestlers than the 4 block shit.

It's obviously because AEWtists wanted Takeshita in the same block as guys like Naito, Umino, Takagi, Gabe and ZSJ. Those are the guys that AEW trannies like and want Tiny Cunt to poach for AEW.

Tsuji vs Takeshita is probably the only match they will be excited for but Cobb vs HENARE or HENARE vs Takeshita makes them feel nothing. Because they have never watched any of the recent matches of HENARE or Cobb.

As for the B block, I agree that it lacks star power but that is just NJPW in general right now. Although if Takeshita was in A block then the star power would be even more lopsided in A block's favor so I don't get what people want here.

I agree with this. Goto or ELP could have been easily switched with Zack Sabre's spot. But with this year's format we know there will be block rematches. I think they want Zack to lose to Naito in the block stage and then beat Naito in the semi-finals.

Not sure about Naito finishing first. Naito never really gets the dominant champion booking. I also think Umino qualifies this time. They have focused on giving him big matches with the likes of Ospreay and Moxley, no way he doesn't qualify now.
