>>14950380Alright, let's shoot about the DrewPriest match.
I appreciate the balls on H for not booking Drew to win when 1: no one would really complain, and 2: when he's more than white hot for his country. That said though, I still think the Backlash crowd was more lively and literally louder, so who's to say it would be worth it other than a moment that'll be forgotten.
CM Punk said a while ago on Raw while walking away he'd cause mayhem at Castle, and he did. Not as much to an extent, which is disappointing, but anyone paying even slight attention could see that coming from a mile away.
Now me personally, I'm fine with Damien as champion. His promos have been pretty decent, but he hasn't really changed/altered his image that much. Him holding the title hasn't affected JD. Fuck, some random tramp who's got taco fever is doing more damage to JD than a title belt ever did. Maybe in a different timeline where Rhea wasn't hurt, they'd use that to finally build a personal feud where Priest starts getting too cocky about "being the real leader" since he has such a coveted belt in his hand. But the point still remains: there's been no interesting change for Damien as a character or others since winning the belt.
Now, as I said, we could all see the Punk run-in coming. My main issue is this: what does it do for Damien? If the entire point was him to finally prove himself as a fighting champion, a "real man", the intervention from Punk HEAVILY diminishes that and still makes it look like Priest can't win by himself. How does that help Priest after he already said he was fine alone repeatedly? It just makes him look like an accessory to a bigger feud of PunkDrew. The only way I can see it being used is having his character become increasingly insecure, taking on a rougher style that just involves beating his opponents senseless to prove a point. Validation through violence. But there still needs to be some cowardice to show that he still hasn't grown yet.
