ROH needs to get it's own weekly or bi-weekly taping already. The higher-ups in AEW need to figure out when TNA does their taping, set things up on the opposite weekends, then do their best to bring in guys like Speedball, Cardona, etc, to give ROH some edge and make it actually matter.
Taping it like WWE Velocity after the crowd has already been sitting around for 3+ hours isn't working. AEW isn't the thing where 7-8 co-workers or people in your MMA class all pile into 2 cars to go carpool and see -- it's couples, it's families, Joe Bob and his buddy Bobby Joe after their shift at the warehouse. Everyone has work tomorrow, nobody has time to watch 60 more minutes of dark matches.
I really hope the Texas Residency changes things as far as crowd noise/acoustics goes but I'm losing hope. Tony Khan somehow watched hours and hours of prime ECW and still has no understanding of just how much entrances, music, etc, played into the HYPE leading into matches....and without that HYPE, things just don't matter as much and can't matter. "
"Already in the ring" introduction and then some indy darling walking out to generic rock music, it's always going to be a fail. Athena, Billie, they all deserve so much more.
