We know Vince liked him. But we also know Vince liked to change things up and made all sorts of weird decisions when he thought things needed to be changed on the fly.
Changing stuff like Bray came up with on the fly was a recipe for it failing. WWE seems to be taking a longer view with stuff now and planning its stories well in advance so this isn't exactly like that.
