>>15057671Adding to this the core issue that wrestling (and other forms of entertainment) face today is that you don't just need to be better than the other five things on TV, you need to make people want to watch live instead of watching a million other things available to them at any given moment.
You need to make them want to tune in as it happens because they can't wait to see what Liv, Dom, Roman, the Rock, Drew or Punk (and at one point MJF) get up to next. You basically need to con the viewer into thinking it's important to see that stuff live because they emotionally invested, or just because they need to live tweet what's happening for their 200 twitter followers.
The problem with simply putting on bangers is that besides all the other netflix shows and porn and tiktok there's decades of wrestling available to everyone right now. I could tune in to watch Bryan Danielson wrestle some old Mexican on Collision with no story whatsoever, or I could watch him wrestle Nigel McGuinness in 2007 with a lot of story, or I could watch him win the WWE Championship, or I could watch that Kobashi match that's rated highly on cagematch and I haven't seen yet, or I could get into catch wrestling since someone stared uploading old matches on youtube or I could jerk off and look at my twitter feed. Not to mention all the people that have friends and family and always have better things to do. Even for a no life smark there is simply no urgency to watch any of the bangers or promos and not just put them off for later (probably never).
