I think Goldberg could easily stop appearing at wrestling-related functions or doing interviews with marks, and it would barely affect his life.

Bret seems to blame the entirety of the ending of his career on the kick and nothing else. Guess that's what happens when you're old school and ignore concussions and memory loss after the kick and keep wrestling for a while.

Not to mention that Bret injured himself with the figure four spot. The only reason he blamed Goldberg was because none of the gatekeepers wanted him to get over, and Bret knew nobody would stand up for him.
