He really fucked himself by signing to AEW. He probably would have gotten a monster push in WWE when AEW was hot and they were taken seriously, now even if he leaves everyone knows that he's washed and not worth investing in, sad because he was one of the biggest names outside WWE just a few years ago, now he's worthless.
