Recently, former WWE Superstar Sylvain Grenier appeared on the JOFO in the RING Podcast and revealed that Vince McMahon had a liking for Matthews. However, he thought that things didn't work out for him because of a girl. Grenier said,

“I just met him and really smart, really savvy. He was a little short but he looked fucking phenomenal and I think Vince liked him a lot. And I thought they were going to push the shit outta them. But I think something happened with a girl, whatever. I thought he was a great talent. You know. I thought he was somebody I saw a spark of. The little glimpse I saw, its like woah this guy has something to offer. A month later, he was gone. Something like that so. But he's somewhere else now. Hopefully he is doing good and he's healthy."
