60s trek makes more sense and is more enjoyable when you basically think of it like the twilight zone in space. it's really more of a horror/mystery show with scifi elements. it's actually a lot of fun for what it is and it's iconic for a reason but it's very different from TNG and the other later shows.
but this actually carries over to the first couple seasons of TNG which were made using recycled scripts from decades before, which is why those first seasons of TNG generally seem to fall flat for most people (me included although there's a kind of morbid trainwreck interest to them once you've seen the rest of good TNG and know what it's about).
TNG is more about moral/ethical dilemmas and trying to resolve these complicated problems and entanglements without violating your own principles, it's also very comfy and has a lot of fun and memorable episodes and character moments.
DS9 is my personal favorite and strikes a really good balance between being thought provoking and fun, and it's probably the most memorable to me.
ignore all the movies they all pretty much suck ass except for the TOS movies maybe, and definitely ignore any nu trek garbage
