Don't watch WWE so I can only comment on AEW. Their shows would be considerably better if guys were willing to nix spots cause someone else already did it. Lock up instead of charging in, don't dive, don't slap, don't trade elbows, and people might actually remember your match.

Jeff Jarrett's recent match against Hangman is the best new example of the different styles of punching/bumping. Jarrett did that getting punched and doing a repeated, flat bumps spot you rarely see anymore. Michaels used to do it as well.

It's really just a matter of understanding what being in a fight is like, and then reacting as though it's all real. Otherwise it ends up looking fake and it kills kayfabe. Most of the wrestlers today have never been in a fight, and it shows. Not only do they not look legit, they don't react in a legitimate way either.
