if the police kick the door in before the looney troon does the world a favor, it gets a little more complicated. if they just take a public defender they'll likely hold onto it for a time from a paperwork perspective, but LEO will end up locking down any domains owned for obvious reasons, at least for a while. if they try to get a pay lawyer to wriggle out from under the charges, it'll probably be taken as part of partial payment in the inevitable bankruptcy and then auctioned from there.
