Gunther doesn't do tribute spots, really. You could call his powerbomb a tribute spot, the Emerald Flowsion...

but Gunther does what Eddie Kingston should do: he adapts the King's Road psychology style (any big move can end a match so 2.9 kickouts actually surprise you, etc) to his own wrestling style, to what suits him, and what he does well. He isn't out there doing Kobashi's machine gun chop spot.

Gunther actually just works the style convincingly, physically and properly. He would genuinely fit in alongside them.
Eddie is a total larper that just copies spots, wears themed gear and won't shut the fuck up about them, and he works with all the stiffness and ferocity of Kelly Kelly.

Kingston should take this time to basically craft his perfect retirement run, I saw a video where he didn't understand some of the basic concepts of strength/bodybuilding training and working out, he is a fat retard but if he wants to work one run where he looks and can act the part he needs to get a clue and hit the gym and come back buff and convincing

It makes total sense that Gunther admires the King's Road style, and it's interesting to compare his understanding of how to implement it into modern wrestling with Kingston who just does machine gun chops and exploders.
It's like how there's a billion western wrestlers who are inspired by Strong Style but only a few like Samoa Joe or Josh Alexander that properly integrate it into their own wrestling.

That's the truth across most hobbies or artforms or sports or whatever. 90% of everything is chaff. That descriptor is maybe a bit harsh, but it's only 10% of shit that manages to actually capture what makes something great. Some know what they're doing, some just intuit it.
