Basically Rock vs Cena was penciled in and they weren't going to kill Phil's reign to give Ryback one.
Then after that, they had to get people like The Shield over, so once again he had to be the guy to take those losses. Then, Cena won, Punk was out after Mania, Jericho lost to fucking Fandango, they had nobody left for him to feud (Could've been Henry) so they had to pick Ryback.
His career kind of fell from there. He was kind of over, and I liked Rybaxel. But then they turned him face again. Unfortunately the roster got better by then and he just didn't fit at that point. He was never really good, he could talk-- but it was fucking nonsensical and not in a Warrior way, but just psuedo-intellectual cringe.
He could've rehabilitated himself. Cody literally asked him to go with him on the indies and NJPW and his dumbass said no.
tldr, got fucked a bit, but he's also an idiot.
