House shows weren't. The live shows and PPVs are a bit, since there'll be dead air when they kick it to the announce desk, or when they're clearly shilling something and nothing else is going on. As far as being engaged with the actual wrestling, it's not a problem, especially if you're participating with the rest of the crowd.

Yes it's a little weird. You hear the wrestlers grunt and yell. The sound of the wrestlers hitting the mat is much louder. Pyro is almost deafening.

I remember going to a PPV in 08 or 09 and they were selling headphones with built in radios for pretty cheap that you could listen to the broadcast commentary feed on. I assume they were testing them out and dropped it pretty quickly because I have never heard anyone else talk about them and never saw them at any shows before or after that.

Me neither. I imagine small shows and indies aren't that weird if they're good and know how to play to a small crowd, but going to a WWE stadium show seems like it would be quite weird. Going to a TV taping sounds genuinely grim.

TV tapings do suck because there's a lot of downtime when they are airing commercials (at least that used to be the case, I haven't been to a WWE show in a decade).

I will say, sitting front row on the floor at a WWE PPV is something every wrestling fan needs to experience at least once. It's absolutely incredible and difficult to describe. I've been fortunate enough to do it a few times and it's something that will stick with you for life.

It's probably worse now. Years ago shows were paced better. Nowadays wrestlers come out, they go into a 4 minute ad break, you watch a backstage vignette and promo package, and then the next guy finally comes out. It must be awful live.
I don't understand why they do it this way,
