He tried so hard to say that he wasn't leaving for AEW. Doing that whole thing of saying "Hey guys i'm retiring lol" at WWE, but then showing up at the rival company.
I genuinely don't think he would have gotten anywhere near as much shit if he just straight up said he was looking to AEW to try something new and fun in his career. Instead, he did all those little interviews and promos saying that WWE was his home, he's not looking elsewhere etc. only to show up at AEW one day. I think that's what turned the majority of people in the end. The Lying.
