>>15503623They were unironically on the path to doing this in 2021-2022, as Raw was trending down but Dynamite was trending up. Unfortunately
>WWE got Rock and Austin back>WWE got good again>Tony decided to upend his 5 year plan in favour of appeasing Phil>Tony decided to hire literally everyone the fed didn't want which gave AEW the perception of second place>Tony's booking legit fell off a cliff in 2022 when Phil got injured and he's never recoveredI dunno why Tony insists on booking Dynamite, Collision and RoH week to week. He's had a lot of good results from booking in terms of year long plans but now he just books "bangers" with no story, or matches that exist in vacuums.
Example - his world champion just had a "banger" match on Collision that was advertised just a day in advance, the match did nothing to advance the work champions story (of which he seems to be involved in feuds with Danielson, Hangman and the Elite), the match didn't get over and for some reason the world champion took 10-15 minutes to beat an old man. Tony does stupid angles like this 3-4 times a week and it never rewards the viewer for following the shows.
I think he should unironically and uniliterally book Dynamite and give Collision to someone else, and put a strict roster split in place. Part of the latest ticket sales issue is that you literally never know who you're going to see if you book tickets for an AEW show. At least if I go to SDL I know I'm probably going to see the Codeman and Bloodline.
