Eric Bischoff Reacts to Goldberg Comparing Tony Khan to Dixie Carter

Bill Goldberg was a guest on a podcast last month where he touched on several issues and gave his opinion of Tony Khan the CEO of AEW. During the conversation, Goldberg compared Khan to Dixie Carter who formerly promoted TNA Wrestling but did not go into much detail.

On the “Wise Choices” podcast, Eric Bischoff, former WCW executive, was asked about what Bill said concerning Khan when he compared him to Carter. “I could see so many similarities right away,” commented Bischoff.

“She wanted so badly to be the female Vince McMahon”. Besides that, he points out that her desire overshadowed her business management responsibilities.

“Like I see it with Tony too,” Bischoff continued. “He wants to be able to say ‘I’m a Vince McMahon’. He will never say ‘Hey I achieved what Vince did’, or Heyman or anybody else ever again you know because they are just part of the major wrestling promoters’ brotherhood from back in the ’90s or in fact by any of us had made much impact in this business as there has been either if we put these people all together we would probably fill a Wal-Mart”.

He believes however that the AEW final won’t have much impact like WCW Monday Nitro or ECW generally speaking.

Bischoff also went on, explaining how he sees problems for modern promoters due industry change since McMahon’s and Heyman’s times. For all Khan’s spending and ambition though, Bischoff remains unconvinced about AEW’s future influence.

Tony Khan has come under scrutiny within the wrestling industry and Bischoff’s ideas add more complexity to it. It is also reminding us that Khan’s comparison with Carter is indicative of the demands and dreams attached to such a big wrestling promotion, as the business goes on metamorphosing itself.
