Cody's AEW problem was all the shit talking about his dad's 80s JCP booking. Why he asked Aldis to out him over for the NWA title at All In before AEW became a thing. Yeah, Dusty booked himself with the other top guys but he was still a legit draw until putting the US title on himself at SC 87. Cody probably thought if he had Tony put the AEW belt on him, he'd be compared to his dad's booking. Nevermind Dusty only booked himself for the NWA belt once during the 1st Bash tour and that was for only 2 weeks & finally pay off the 84 & 85 SCs and 'redemption' for 1981. Rather have the Cucks book themselves that way. Cody beating Omega instead of Butterfly Britches could have avoided a lot of the Punk envy shit and kept Page in the midcard where he belongs.
