Because it is very illegal. There are many laws explicitly stating that it cannot be done. Many people have gone to jail for contract tampering.

WWE is openly breaking those laws just to stick it to AEW, and we will not tolerate it any more. If WWE wants war, we'll give them war.

Exactly? You're agreeing with me and I'm not sure you even realize it. Contract tampering can and does happen in wrestling. Anyone who's under contract with one company and negotiates or has any real discussions with another company while still under contract is a case of it. There just isn't anything wrong with it in wrestling because there are no rules or laws against it. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist though

There are no laws in professional wrestling regarding it though. There are no real laws in pro wrestling at all. Because in order to enforce them they'd likely need to reclassify the talent as employees instead of independent contractors which would be a cold day in hell before they ever even consider doing that voluntarily

It’s not tampering because Pro Wrestling is not a sport. There isn’t an off-season for transactions or set dates for those things like in real sports

Which is why it doesn’t apply. You can’t limit when talent can talk about their next contract because it makes no sense for them to wait until they are free agents and not getting a paycheck to start negotiating

Problem is - Tony isn't in competition with WWE. He never was. But AEW did come in and bulldoze the indy scene, destroying it forever. When AEW dies (soon), WWE isn't going to hire more than 4-5 AEW wrestlers. That means the the other 195 employees are shit outta luck. They helped kill the indies, it's the bed they made. Japan will likely take a bunch back, because Japan is just America's cuckold now.
