Title: The Wrestler: Redemption
FADE IN:
INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - EARLY MORNING
The screen is dim. The faint beeping of a heart monitor echoes in the background.
Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke) lies in a hospital bed, tubes connected to his body. His face is gaunt, his eyes closed. The once-mighty wrestler is a shadow of his former self. Slowly, his eyelids flutter open.
NURSE (early 30s, gentle demeanor) enters the room, checking the IV drip. She notices Randy stirring.
NURSE
Mr. Robinson? Can you hear me?
Randy’s eyes slowly focus on her, confusion mixing with recognition.
RANDY
(hoarse, weak)
Where... where am I?
NURSE
You're in the ER. You had a heart attack. It was touch and go for a while, but you pulled through.
Randy’s mind races as memories of the match—the crowd, the adrenaline, the pain—flood back.
RANDY
(slight smile, then pained)
I thought... I thought that was it.
NURSE
You're lucky to be alive. But your heart… it’s not like it used to be. You can’t keep doing this to yourself.
Randy’s smile fades. He turns his head away, staring at the ceiling, processing her words.
RANDY
(whispers)
It’s all I know.
The nurse’s expression softens, seeing the broken man before her.
NURSE
Maybe it’s time to know something else. You’ve been given another chance, Randy.
The door opens, and STEPHANIE (Evan Rachel Wood), Randy's estranged daughter, enters cautiously. She looks older, wearier, but there’s concern in her eyes.
STEPHANIE
Dad?
Randy turns his head slowly, his eyes widening as he sees Stephanie. Emotions clash across his face—relief, guilt, hope.
RANDY
Steph... I...
Stephanie walks closer, standing by his bedside, her voice trembling slightly.
STEPHANIE
I thought I lost you. I got the call and... (pauses) What are you doing to yourself?
Randy closes his eyes, unable to look at her. His voice cracks as he speaks.
RANDY
I messed up, Steph. I know I did. But the ring... it’s the only place I felt alive.
