Per Ibou of Wrestlepurists:
>Ricky Starks is expected to debut in NXT within the next 6 weeks, as he’s been a free agent since August 1st.
>Ricky had some issues passing the initial medical evaluation due to previous neck issues. He failed the first examination but passed on the 2nd attempt. He’s cleared to wrestle but they’re teaching him a “safer” style than how he normally wrestles, much more grounded and submission focused than his current move set.
>Ricky has two huge supporters in the WWE right now; Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. Both of them want Ricky on the main roster, but there’s been pushback from WWE management who view Ricky as being too outside the norm.
>Ricky, 34, is significantly older than the current ideal WWE signee. He’s also openly gay, which causes some issues with WWE’s Saudi Arabia shows that Endeavor is concerned with. That said, Cody and Punk’s support means a lot, so it’s expected that Ricky will make some kind of appearance on the main roster once a few lingering medical concerns are addressed.
