Funny but then they had to backpedal. The crown of thorns thing? Cheap and ECW did it during the Sandman and Raven feud to greater effect. There is no edge to AEW beyond the blood and hardcore matches. The only time they leaned into controversy was all this Jack Perry shit, which they only did because of the CM Punk interview dropping. I think wrestling is great when people can get actual heat and the audience is able to realistically believe in a rivalry. Wrestling is great when it takes risks and isn't walking on eggshells, not when it's appealing to limp wristed losers who say the word "problematic" unironically.
