I honestly don't understand how he thought he was the best in the world up until that point. He never headlined a PPV, never had a really great match that wasn't carried by Jeff doing stunts, was carried by Jeff and wasn't really impressive with Nexus.

The pipebomb was a worked shoot. They wanted to push a guy that was cool because he was the anti-Cena and worked a bunch of Cena haters into staying with the show. Just because WWE says this, doesn't mean it's true. He's not even top 10.

Do you think he's a bigger star than any of the Attitude stars? What about Hogan, Flair or HBK?

He's just tiresome. Talks all the time about how he changed the game, and people take what he says on face value when it's just a wrestling promo and he's actually not that good in the ring.

He's top 5 in the modern era without a doubt. Top 3 most likely behind Brock and Cena. He had a lot of mainstream appeal, his merch sold like crazy. Even moreso than Cena at super cena's height. Lots of AE fans love CM Punk because he's a goat on the mic and was an anti-hero shit talker.

Prime Punk is legit one of the GOATs. And he was the best in WWE at the time, no question about it.

Backing this up. This guy is 100 percent correct. I was not a huge indie guy at the time, but CM Punk was a name even I knew. There were only a few guys like Super Dragon, Quackenbush, CM Punk, and maybe a few others I knew about. CM Punk signing to WWE was huge at the time in the IWC.
