I will always respect Kenny for being walking sawdust and carrying 4 world titles and still having great matches.
Brock’s entire lazy ass run has inadvertently given me the highest respect for Kurt Angle where he sits at my all time number one and probably always will.

The problem in this industry is that there isn’t enough people who willingly want to die in the ring and have their entire legacy be what’s left on the mat. Everyone has one foot in wrestling and one foot out towards Hollywood. Passion simply for Pro Wrestling is lost in the west.

They’re basically the only wrestlers I respect. Watching a bunch of failed body builders strike homoerotic poses involved in porn tier storylines ala the Hulkamania era is gay and boring. Watching someone do something actually physically impressive, seemingly brushing with death, is based as hell

Working while hurt is admirable, because I wouldn't fucking risk permanent injury for other people's amusement. I have to respect people doing what I can't, or wouldn't be willing to do.

That being said; they have to be a great performer to begin with. I'm not going to suddenly become a fan of a lifelong shitter JUST because he comes back from injuries or sickness. If they got over solely on "coming back" or "sawdusting" themselves, then I'll never be a fan. I might give them props but I won't follow their career.

If you're a truly talented wrestler that gets over from some combination or promos, wrestling, booking and THEN you work through injuries or recover from illness back to pre-injury abilities then yes I will respect you more after having suffered for my entertainment. Kenta Kobashi and Kurt Angle come to mind as guys that were top tier and worked hurt.

No, wrestlers should be like magicians, act out a violent act without anyone actually getting hurt, the fact that the ring isn't completely gimmicked to be harmless and is as stiff as a patio deck encased by elevator cables is insane

deathmatch guys are brave, but if you're doing a trick where you cut someone in half and you literally cut someone in half, you're more of a prop comedian than a magician

Actors draw more than any pro wrestler ever will.
Any fight they have is typically much safer than any fake or real combat sport.

Pro Wrestling isn’t for you.
You want megastars and popular idols and that’s fine but you’d be better off simply worshipping celebrities and the money they make.

You're right... it's easy to get over and draw millions without putting in much effort in the ring, without risking any bodily harm by taking the safest approach ever.

You just need the owner of a billion dollar corporation to take a liking to you, then have you walk all over the rest of the wrestlers on the company payroll, and to do that consistently for 10+ years straight, regardless of how the paying customer reacts. Once you've indoctrinated an entire generation of fans to accept the hand picked top guy you're set. Easy peasy.
