It’s a smart development plan. Look is the one thing in wrestling you can’t teach. So you recruit prospects who already have it, and see who can learn the rest of the business. Those that can’t you just cut loose, you’ve barely invested anything in them anyway.

nothing wrong with college athletes but guys like femi are rare. they combed all the colleges they could find for his nil class and almost all of his peers are washouts.
he's a great find but i imagine they spend a ton of resources on try outs. some never show up to the pc and some come to the pc but arent good enough to make tv.

Eh, this is one of a few really great dudes out of a huge amount of NIL guys that overwhelmingly didn't have it. The PC is great at training the women but they just haven't had that success rate with the men. Zoomer women are stealing the show on their own while 39 year old indie guys still have to carry the men's division more or less.
What ultimately gets lost in the discussion about "muh indie shitters" is that the indies actually were once a place where even fatasses in basketball shorts like Kevin Owens were so fucking good at wrestling and so much better to watch than some of the midcarders WWE and TNA were pumping out that it really was a big deal when they finally landed on TV. In 2024 there's nobody still out there who's been blowing the roof off the bingo halls for 10 straight years like KO and Bryan were before they finally got their turn, everyone's already been signed.

The indies are effectively the deadest they've been in a long time. Covid bullshit forced some to shut down, the MeToo bullshit took away some notable guys which was bad when they also ran promotions (like Joey Ryan or Quack) and then AEW destroyed whatever was left. What's even left? There's GCW which is a shell of itself, maybe Black Label Pro and Defy? AIW but nobody's ever given a shit about them. Beyond is the only from the late 2010s glory days that really seems to be going but even then, they have none of the buzz they had pre-covid and nobody pays attention to them.
