Back then people were more interested in the drama backstage and real world shit than they were in anything actually happening onscreen. That's why Punk's worked shoot shit got over so well. Smarks ate it up left right and center. Now they're eating up coconut theater and Judgment Day slop while gargling Triple H's balls. No actually issues going on in WWE get out. It took Odyssey Jones being removed from the website for people to even have a clue anything even happened there. The company as a whole is walking on eggshells in regard to any real world drama too while Vince and this Janel thing lingers over its head as ominously as it does

But you are right OP. Even upto 2016 WWE was way better than whatever the fuck it has become since the pandemic and yes 1998-2001 was the peak but it was never this bad in any other era
