Why haven’t WWE or AEW done a megashow in India? Indians are probably the most hardcore wrestling fans on the planet (about half of them even still believe wrestling is real!).

It would be dirt cheap and super easy to sell tickets. So why not?

I could see a show doing insane numbers for attendance, but Indians are generally poor so they tickets would need to he super cheap.

Not to be offensive, but probably 150,000 indians maxxed out in a superdome would probably be worth the same as 20,000 at a small stadium, like prudential center or something

they should genuinely run shows as a loss leader in some of these places that cant afford the inflated live event costs. not all the time but a giant super show in indian with 100k people would be a wild thing for press and probably an interesting ppv watch

Alright this is going to be a hard one for some people to swallow. Despite India's large population, the problems mainly stem from external factors like an unstable currency and facing issues in setting up a vital infrastructure to maintain its growing population. Many promotions have attempted to get into the Indian market but have either been taken off by a network or have had low profits from various shows. TNA once did a show titled "Ring Ka King" on Colors TV (a major over the air network in India owned by Endemol). Unfortunately, they hired extras for the show and there were few actual fans in attendance because of that. It pretty much became one of the most viewed pro wrestling shows in the world based on India's population. Unfortunately, Endemol was seeing other uses for the time slot. TNA later returned to India for Impact tapings but they decided to have all of the people in attendance be hired extras. WWE attempted to do 2 big shows in India like Superstar Spectacle but that was cancelled due to the pandemic and the most recent one was a house show that featured a rare match from John Cena.

However, as stated before, not many promotions were able to crack the market. There's smaller promotions like Great Khali's Continental Wrestling Entertainment which is one of the largest domestic promotions in India but so far they haven't really been getting much in the country.
