Different strokes for different folks. Some of us actually watch wrestling for entertaining matches.
Personally, if I wanted to watch a bunch of talking I'd watch one of the countless other shows on television that put on much more compelling storylines than either company.

i like matches, its just that athleticism doesn't equal a good match to me. if it did everything on nxt would be 5 stars with the level of athlete they have down there. ospreay i appreciate what he can do but he wrestles the exact same match every time and you could put clips together from his last 10 matches and they would be indistinguishable other than who he's facing. i value matches to feel distinct and unique and operate on creative ring psychology that stems from storytelling

I like Ospreay. I like Miz. They do different things and they do them well. I feel like there should be room for a variety of talents in this "sport" and that there's no singular talent that necessarily gets you "over."

That's fair.
I find him impressive but I mostly watched him in New Japan (don't watch much AEW although I'm watching All Out). I've always personally preferred Zack Sabre Jr. personally, who I'm glad is finally getting a major push.
I also just don't see why people shit so much on Miz. Working a mic is a skill, it's the skill that gets MJF over after all and Miz is every bit as good if not better. This business needs its Ospreays and Mizs and ZSJs and what's great is that they're totally not doing the same thing.

Miz is a gatekeeper.
Miz is the guy you put other guys up against when you want to see whether they'd make it at that top level. If they can work well with Miz, they'll probably do well in the upper card or main event. If they don't, they probably belong on the lower end of the midcard.
That's why so much promising talent ends up going against him. They're being tested to see if they can succeed at that next level.
XPac played a similar role back in the day.

i think miz is a pretty smart worker, he's very quick on his feet and adaptable and can call matches on the fly which i think is really important. i think he would be an amazing trainer. he's one of those guys whos in ring abilities won't really be recognized ever because he's not flashy even though he has had a fair bit of genuinely great singles matches.
