AEW on Fox is “almost definitely happening”

Per Ibou of Wrestlepurists:
>WWE sold Smackdown to Fox with the promise of 4 million viewers a week and the ad rates that generates. It never happened, they had great numbers for cable TV but only so-so numbers for network and, more importantly, the ad rates were awful. It’s been discussed to death but nobody sees the WWE fan base as one you want to market to, they spend money on WWE but thats it.
>FOX reached out to AEW and asked what they (meaning Fox) could do to get AEW on the network. From what I’m being told Fox wants an hour a week, that’s it, and AEW has much higher ad rates than WWE so it’ll be a win for Fox at that point, especially since they won’t be paying as much as they paid the WWE.
>Shockwave is still in flux but there’s a lot of internal discussion about making it a 3 match show, every week you get 3 matches in an hour, and it’s a mix of the usual Collision and Dynamite rosters.
>For what it’s worth, Fox wants a big Latino presence on the show and AEW has guys like Rush, Mortos and Hologram who would fit this exactly.
>I’d say the deal is 75% done at this rate, but it might not happen depending on a few things with WBD. WBD would be willing to pay a LOT of money to be the one and only carrier of AEW, I’ll say that much.
